Citrus trees survive the freeze

UK readers will remember "the Beast from the East" which brought some extremely cold weather to us earlier this year (see https://www.seeingthefuchsia.com/single-post/2018/02/28/Battling-the-Beast and https://www.seeingthefuchsia.com/single-post/2018/03/02/Snow).

I have three citrus trees in pots, one of which has outgrown my ability to move it indoors in the winter. I attempted to protect all three plants with bubble wrap around the pots and frost fleece on the plants themselves, but all three were in a sorry state when I unwrapped them in the spring. One of the orange trees, in particular, had lost every single one of its leaves and I really didn't expect it to survive:

But amazingly all three plants have since recovered, here's what they look like now:

The moral of this story is: bubble wrap and frost fleece actually work!
